Saturday, October 27th, NYC and NJ bladers came out to celebrate Halloween early and get one last session in before hurricane Sandy hit. We met at Coleman skatepark and then took it to the streets, turning heads with our costumes and blades on our feet. Thanks to Sam DeAngelis for snapping a couple of flicks during the session. Congratulations to Jesus Medina for taking best tricks of the day with Angelo Morales coming in a very close second. Congratulations to Con Fuego, Dave Ngo, and Nathan Pachecho for splitting the prize money for best costume. All photos by Sam DeAngelis.

Freeze Fame: Sam DeAnglies #2

May 28, 2012

“As the long winter comes to a close and Spring rears it’s head, the NY street sessions begin. All throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC the streets were once again moved by the sounds of rolling urethane and sliding plastic.

On a warm Spring weekend, some NJ bladers and myself headed out to Staten Island to meet up with Franco Cammayo and the crew. We started off at the infamous curved red ledges to warm up and snap the first two photos. After a quick session I grabbed the camera shot Steve Nichols with this sweet Tru Mistrial. With the strong sun my single flash wasnt doing enough to fill shadows so I had to use my reflector, gripped by myself, to ensure a well lit shot.”

Sam DeAngelis ONE Photo Journal #12

October 22, 2011

“I would never in a million years fathom anyone attempting this trick. Back in April of this year the Valo team came into NYC to film for Valo “Five.” I contacted Jon Julio to see what his plans were and he replied with an invitation to come out for the day and shoot with the team. As I met the guys at LES park they were already scoping the area for tricks.

Erik Bailey was checking out this huge gap to ledge and decided he would charge it at full speed. The first couple of attempts ended with him rolling like a log across the blacktop for ten feet but somehow coming out unscathed each time. Finally, after setting up my flashes, I caught this shot just in time. He flew at this Disaster Mute Grab to Back Royale as Victor Arias caught the clip. This shot was taken with my Canon T2i at 1/160, f6.3, 400, with flashes placed bottom left and top right” – Sam DeAngelis.

Last Man Standing 2011 Edit by Sam DeAngelis

September 21, 2011

“Welcome to the 6th Annual Last Man Standing Street Competition brought to you by Victor Callender and Wheels In Motion. Victor started the contest series to bring more awareness to New York City’s Rollerblading scene. This year the contest was held Uptown in a place locals have deemed “The Pit.” With its variety of obstacles and acceptance from the parks department, “The Pit” created a perfect setting for the competition for a second year in a row” – Sam DeAngelis.
