Lavell Wimberly sends this great night time shot of Bronx, NY skater Chris Ashley. Taken on one of our many cold nights this month Chris Ashley laces a perfect soyale with his gloves, beanie and of course I Roll NY tee on a higher than average rail. Shot on location in the Bronx, NY. Photo by Lavell Wimberly. See a second angle here.

Be-Mag has released a few sneak peak photos of their upcoming issue. Issue 34 will include a Matthias Ogger Interview, Oli Short Interview, Michael Garlinghouse Profile, Rolling Artist: Ryan Schude, Roskilde Sessions, catching up with Jeph Howard and much more. On the NYC side of things Billy O’Neil is featured in the Soul Stealing section with a 180 (I think) over the bank featured above. See more sneak peaks from Be-Mag issue 34 here.

Up Close Photos of Pier 62 Skatepark

Thanks to Victor Callender for pulling a B&E (no not bacon and eggs) and taking these exclusive up close photos of the newly constructed Pier 62 skate park in Manhattan, NY. The terrain looks great, all cement based on the photos, but the grinding material doesn’t look too ideal for us skaters. The edges seem to be painted cement rather than angle iron or metal railing which is usually used for parks. Maybe i’m wrong. Check the rest of the photos after the jump.

Franco Cammayo Photo from the Truth 2

Franco Cammayo – BS Farf gap to street. (Click to enlarge)

Photographer Drew Amato posted up a picture from his session with Franco Cammayo at a train station on Broad street and Spring Garden in Center City, Philadelphia earlier this summer. The run up, height/length of the rail, the fact that it’s square and the distance to the street shows how talented Franco is. “I had a few different ideas as far as shooting it, but Franco being the beast he is landed it within like 3 tries, one of which he ran into a car. Check out the clip in The Truth II” – Drew Amato. Check Drew’s site for more of his work.

I Roll NY Exclusive: First Photo of the New Pier 62 Skatepark

July 20, 2009

Today I received an exclusive picture of the Pier 62 skatepark that’s still under development. Though the park isn’t completely finished from what can be seen in the picture it seems like it’s going to be one of the best park spots to skate in our city. The layout is impressive, less cluttered, and much more open ended from it’s previous layout. More information and pictures will be provided as the park develops. Thanks for the pic…
