Kevin Dowling and Jamie Olmstead have premiered their project titled, Footage Tape, which is an online high definition web series that has set the standards for any piece of online media dedicated to rollerblading. Not only does Footage Tape provide great footage of some of rollerblading’s top pros doing the sickest tricks with multiple angles but it covers each section as a news report which is refreshing to see. This first episode is approximately 31 minutes long and is better than most videos that are out now. Footage Tape provides great coverage on the Panhandle Pow Wow and the Boots, Burgers, and Hammers competition as well as scene reports on Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and New York City.
The NYC report rounds off the video. Saving the best for last? I think so. Kevin opens up the NYC section showing his love for our scene, and the I Roll NY site (I love you Kevin!) as well as dedicating the opening footage to our lost friend Brian “Cozmik” Scott which I’m truly grateful for. The NYC footage goes on to cover one of our many Lets Roll NY sessions, our Last Man Standing competition, and various pros skating our city. Thank you to Kevin and Jamie for not only representing our local scene amazingly, but rollerblading in general amazingly. Please show your support, just how Kevin has, and visit the Footage Tape website. “FootageTape is the first ever HD online rollerblading web series created by Kevin Dowling and Jamie Olmstead. This episode features skating from the likes of David Sizemore, Julian Bah, Michael Braud, Rob Guerrero, Tim Taylor, Adam Mcmanus, Montre Livingston, Billy Oneill, Adam Ehalt, Walt Austin, Jon Jon Bolino, Chris Smith, Cody Porche, Jon Ortiz and more” – Footage Tape.
Staying in contact with the man himself and catching up with him at the last Lets Roll NY session, Billy O’Neil let me know that the Create Originals pro team would be announced soon. While talking to him on Saturday he also clued me in, saying that it was a four man team, all from the east coast, who each had amazing style. True to his word the Create Originals site has been updated with their new team featuring Sean Kelso, Colin Kelso, Jon Jon Bolino and Billy O’Neil. “After all the years Brian, Hakeem, and I have put into skating, the fact that we can be a part of something that we made, which adds to the maturity and growth of skating, is an amazing thing. Today is the official team announcement, and we put a lot of thought into who we wanted to be a part of our dream. We wanted people who we feel represent skating with style, drive and a vision” – Billy O’ Neil. Check the ONE Magazine website for more words from Fish.
So the rumors of the release date of Austin Paz’s follow up, Truth 2, have been put to an end. A lot of people were expecting a back to school release date but it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer than expected and get the Truth 2 as a Christmas gift. Based on the trailer, I’d have to say that it’ll be worth the wait. Speculations of the video being in full High Definition may be the reason why the date was pushed back as well as talks about filming full sections for each skater in the video may be a reason too. The skaters featured in Austin’s video are, Sean Kelso, Colin Kelso, Franco Cammayo, Mike Johnson, Austin Paz, Chris Cheshire, Jon Jon Bolino, Montre Livingston, Jeff Dalnas, and more.

One Magazine’s website has a weekly feature titled “Photo Journal” where they take submitted pictures and choose the one they like most and post it on their site. The two latest Photo Journals have actually came from two New York City photographers. Queens, NY’s Angelo Ferrer and Brooklyn, NY’s Drew Humphrey. Both took amazing pictures and rightfully deserved to be featured on One’s site. Angelo’s picture features the famous “Golden Kink Rail” in New York City and Drew’s photo was taken on a rainy day session during a trip to Philly. Check out their articles on the One Magazine site.
