One Week with John Stephens

June 10, 2009

Skeptic Media continues to bang out edit after edit this time featuring John Stephens. The Dipskate, Flatline rider made the switch from Deshi to RB a while ago and never looked back. This edit features John when he first got his new skates hitting up Bronx, NY spots featuring the Haven Arts gallery (home of the BDSD) and Manhattan, NY spots. The back royale-tru makio-forward makio at the Haven Arts and the unity to top porn, fishbrain 360 pole tap at Colombia University stand out in the edit and show John’s true talent. Filmed and edited by Navin Hardyal. Song is K’naan – ABC’s.

Greg Sturino Online Edit By: Skeptic Media

June 6, 2009

Again, this is another edit that should have been posted up earlier. Since the hiatus I’m just trying to mix in the content I missed with the everyday new content so bare with me. For those who don’t know Skeptic Media’s, Greg Sturino, he’s one of the main reasons why NYC had the Boogie Down Show Down as he was one the who helped build the box and the stage that was used for the indoor competition. The BDSD helped showcase Greg’s craftsmanship skills and this edit shows Greg’s trick vocabulary and technical skills. Greg’s Mistrial-to Fish-to Misfit is one of the sickest switch ups I’ve seen done cleanly along with his many others. Filmed and edited by Navin Hardyal. The edit also provides a nice change of music.

     Youtube version here

Bronx, NY’s very own Hector Rodriguez created this new edit featuring skate park clips, street clips, and Boogie Down Show Down clips. “All alone at the skate park and some of…wait! all of the clips they did not put in the BX box comp edit…” – Hector Rodriguez.

Photos from the Bronx, NY competition in the Haven Arts Gallery. Check out the rest of his pictures below. Also, The Haven Arts gallery is still hosting sessions from 6pm-10pm for $5. They have the box that was used in the competition along with a few small Prails and ramps. It’s a perfect place to skate on a rainy day but call first to make sure the sessions are still going on. Check the Haven Arts website for info and directions. Boogie Down Show Down pictures after the jump.

Rafael Herrera – Tru Mistrial (Click to enlarge)

When I (Craig) met up with Angelo Ferrer the night of the Boogie Down Show Down we gave each other a look that said, “Wow, there’s way too many crazy stunts to capture with just one photograph.” Luckily enough, Angelo came prepared with flashes surrounding the skate box, and captured a lot of great photos that froze some of the sickest tricks in time. You can see the rest of Angelo’s photos from the BDSD (Boogie Down Show Down) below and on his flickr page.
