The famous Byrne park in Parkslope, Brooklyn better known under the title of “51 rail” due to the park featuring one of Brooklyn’s most famous skate spots is under construction. 51 rail has been featured in various NYC and tour videos. No word on when the park will re-open yet. Thanks to Theron Chung for the information and photo.

See the previous coverage of the Thomas Greene skatepark here. “The Thomas Greene Playground Skate Spot is a small scale specialty design / build project. The project includes the addition of three skate features including a custom radius and kinked ledges, and a manual pad. Located on an exisiting basketball court, the facility can be utilized by multiple sporting disciplines. This project is a colaboration between CA skateparks, Friends of Douglas / Greene Park, and Open Road of New York as well as having received generous support from the Tony Hawk Foundation and yours truly” – California Skateparks. “Here is an edit I put together in January of 2009. All of this footage was filmed for the ONE Magazine blade video which was produced and directed by Conner O’Brien, and released in December, 2008. The edit was only made for the eyes of my friends in the WNY scene, so they could see the clips we filmed in an edit since not all of them made it into the ONE Video. The edit was then released as a last minute bonus feature on “The Best of Roccityskate.com” DVD which was released and distributed at the 2009 Bitter Cold Showdown in Royal Oak, MI” – Mike Torres.
