Stumbled upon this a while ago but didn’t get the chance to post it up until now. NYC’s Ariel Surun spent some time on the west coast living with Rob G over the summer and Rob posted some photos of a typical day via his blog. Check out the photos and story at Controlled Accidents.
Rob G and David Sizemore of Team Rollerblade stayed with NYC legend Ray Mendez at his spot in the Bronx, NY during the week of the LMS competition and filmed this lil ol’ edit at Ray’s loft. Yes, this is an indoor edit in Ray’s loft featuring Robert Guerrero, David Sizemore, Hector “Tato” Gonzales, and Ariel Surun. Check out the good times these guys had setting up obstacles in front of the prail. Definitely jealous. Filmed and edited by Tato Gonzales. Thanks to Rob G for the upload.

Today our city, along with many other sponsors, are holding an event titled, Summer Streets, in which Park Avenue and connecting streets from the Brooklyn Bridge to Central Park will be closed off from vehicles and open only to pedestrians starting from 7:00 am and ending at 1:00 pm. One of the many sponsors happens to be Rollerblade. Rolleblade will have two booths that will be giving out free recreational skate rentals, along with protective gear, to anyone who’d like to skate during the festivities. Myself along with a few other skaters will be one of the many volunteers renting out skates. Last week Franco Cammayo, Jeremy Stephenson, Kelly Mathews, John Stephens, Victor Callender and Ray Mendez came out and helped spread the joy of skating to young kids and adults. Though this is not an “aggresive/freestyle” event, I would still love to see you guys out there representing for our side of the rollerblading spectrum. This is also a great way to introduce family and friends into skating and help spread the word about what we all love doing. Besides, it’s a great way to enjoy the beautiful summer days, get free products, listen to music, skate smooth pavement without worrying about cars, and hang out before the typical Saturday session. More information on the Summer Streets website. Hope to see you there.
