Today we get a first look at the construction and obstacles being built at the River Avenue Skate Plaza in the Bronx, NY. The plaza is located on River Avenue and East 157th street which is accessible by the 4, B, and D train station at the 161 Street-Yankee Stadium/River Avenue train stop. The park is said to open mid May to early July. Thanks to Shardy Nieves for providing the information and photos below.

“The construction is almost complete, the major parts are already developed, sometime next week they will have the pavement set in and the park should be open Mid May early June (Info as per site manager). This is a parks dept site so I wasn’t allowed to go in during construction but I was able to get some shots anyway” – Shardy Nievies.

wow this may be be just what the bx needs a place for all those 100s of little kids to be facilitated. Just imagine how parks get installed with out skating obstacles vs how many skate parks open its upsetting but when you see a place like this open its defiantly means a new future of skaters getting into the sport and also learning to get better this made my day! Got a few photos im holding on too of the astoria park and south conduit skate park aswell should i leak?

what’s nice to see is that the City is stepping away from the prefab parks and allowing proper concrete to be poured, no matter how big or small it is. NYC parks department is making huge efforts.

Its not as big as Mullalys Its about 25% the size the Lot they building it in is pretty small. It will be a Nice baby Skate Plaza NOt really a skate park Just a Plaza. . Im with TOM its great to see the Parks Department giving a Damn after all these years.
