Sorry for the late notice but the session wasn’t finalized until yesterday. If you were at yesterday’s pizza session you got first word that the second Lets Roll NY session of the year will take place tomorrow at 2:00PM in Owl’s Head park at the Millennium skate park. A helmet is most likely required to skate the park so don’t forget yours. Take the R train to Bayridge Avenue and walk to the park. More information and directions on the above flyer and below.

This week’s C.O.W. is brought to us by Chris “Kixx” Cofer of Evo-Tek Media giving us a sneak peak of what we’ll be seeing from the Last Man Standing 2009 DVD. “We have been shooting and editing the LMS DVD for the past few months. The project as a whole has gone through a lot of drafts but is due out very very soon. Not only will the DVD feature highlights from the competition but also interviews, montages, and behind the scenes footage so its really going to be a decent package that tells more of a story than just showing a competition” – Chris Cofer. Stay tuned for Last Man Standing DVD updates and enjoy the sneak peak Clip of the Week!
Earlier in the month Htat Lin Htut contacted I Roll NY to create a small feature for Parsons The New School of Design. What started out as a commercial became a short documentary of a session held at McCarren Park Pool in Brooklyn, NY. The edit sets a great tone and vibe for the beautiful weather we’ve been having while giving a different perspective and inside look of what a usual NYC session entails. Filmed and edited by Htat Lin Htut featuring Damian Michalski, James Perez, Yannes Sootes and other local skaters.
Rolling Film Media, Skate Life Pro-Motion, and Ray Mendez brings us an edit from NYC’s Signature premiere. For those of you who couldn’t make it out to the premiere check out what you missed. You can get your copy of Signature at the online store or at Tri-State Skate. “The edit was filmed and Narrated by Ray Mendez at the Signature DVD World Premiere Feb. 21st in NYC. The edit was produced by Jason Staine of Rolling Film Media. The audio track was created by NYC Legend Jon Ortiz.”
First things first. This is not a competition, just a session where the Art of Rolling and I Roll NY will be providing a set amount of pizza for whomever attends. Bring some cash with you if you’d like to contribute and help out with the pizza order as well as making sure you’ll be definitely getting a slice. Besides the delicious pizza we’ll be providing, we’ll also be welcoming Lord Brian back to NYC. Walking directions from the M train station to Gates avenue here via google maps. The order will be placed by 4:30PM so be sure to be there before then!
Saturday’s session was a great turn out. Thanks to everyone who came out and showed their support. Last year’s first Lets Roll NY session started out with about 10 people and this year’s first session started out with at least 50. Cesar Macay was in attendance and took some great photos from the first spot, Coleman (LES) Skatepark. Check them out below featuring Joe Dedentro, Kelly Matthews, Adam Killgore, Lord Brian, Jon Ortiz and many more. See if you can spot yourself. All photos by Cesar Macay. More photos from the session on the I Roll NY facebook page.
“Lets Roll is a group event that takes place each week in NYC the goal is too unite all the skaters within the 5 boro’s to one place and time in order to project to the world that we are not only out there but are dominating the sports world in NYC. “This is a quick over view, via iphone video, of how we made the wheat paste, shot the ad, and what the printouts look like…Behind the scenes of a drunken last night with Billy in Manhattan. We had gone out to Continental for shots and then karaokeeeeeee until 4am. Too done to make things straight, sloppy execution on the cop watch, but 9 minutes and we were done. NOT how you should do it. *Don’t do this at home… ” – Adam Johnson.
Word is that Killgore and one or two of the Denial team riders will be in attendance today along with Joey G of Casualty and hopefully some of our local big names. Today is such a beautiful day so lets not waste it and come out to the first Lets Roll NY session of the year! 1:00PM at Coleman (LES) Skatepark. Take the F train to East Broadway and head towards the end of the Manhattan Bridge where you’ll see the entrance to the skatepark. You can also take the D train to Grand Street and follow the street signs to the Manhattan Bridge. Be there!
