Cozmik wasn’t apart of just one family or just one community. He was, and still is, apart of our family and our community. Brian’s presence was so strong felt that there is not one skater in New York City who didn’t know who we was. He was easily recognizable among others by his hair and the wristband he always wore. His talent and progression is something we all took notice to.

As I attended his memorial and read all of the articles, there is no doubt in my mind that Brian’s death came way too soon. Not one negative word can be said about Brian because he was simply a good kid. His neighborhood friends and skating friends all came out yesterday to show their respect and admiration for the young talent and shed tears as we realized he was gone. I personally heard the news as I was on the bus coming home the night of the shooting, where I coincidentally passed the flatbush arera, and spent the entire bus ride in tears as I kept hearing from person after person that the news was true. I later went to the shooting site with a few other friends of Cosmik to see the scene for ourselves.

Besides being an overall good kid, Cozmik was also a big supporter of what I was doing. I always saw him wearing the I Roll NY tee whenever I skated with him. This sounds dumb to say now but when I created the latest I Roll NY tees, I knew that I had to give him one as soon as I got them. Some may recall during the Lets Roll NY Session 8, I made a short announcement and handed Cozmik the newly printed tee before anyone else had one. I wanted him to be one of the first people to get a tee because he always showed his support. It was my way of showing him support back and letting him know that I appreciated him representing what I was doing. I also wanted to give it to him to let him know that I saw his talent and that it didn’t go unrecognized. Not only did Brian support me but he supported all of the movements in NYC. He recently was added to the Skeptic Media team, was a member of Ramelle Knight’s Gentlemens’ Klub, and gained exposure through the Evotek Media Group. As we walked through his house last night we all saw his wall which was covered in Evotek stickers and it touched the Evotek group deeply.

Brian was also set to be featured in the next issue of The Art of Rolling magazine, which will now be dedicated to him. If you ask anyone who skated with Brian recently, we’ll all tell you the same thing. He was someone who progressed extremely fast for his age and years skating who always had a smile on his face. Skating with Cozmik was always a treat because you knew he was going to pull off something that seemed unimaginable from the last time you skated with him. Brian would struggle to do an AO Soul one session, and in the next, he would be lacing a tru spin fish with ease. His trick vocabulary was growing rapidly and everyone saw his talent. When asked who’s someone to look out for from NYC? his name would always pop up amongst others. Brian will truly be missed but never forgotten. A session is currently being organized in honor of him and Angelo Ferrer is accepting any words about Cozmik for the latest issue of AOR. You can contact Angelo at nyrolling@yahoo.com if you’d like to submit anything. More information about Cozmik’s memorial session will be posted soon. Thank you to Edwin Urena of Otherground Studios for the beautiful image he created featured above.

Well said craig. I didn’t really know too much about him, maybe seeing him skate a few times and admiring some recent pics. It hit me a little harder when I found out an employee of the hospital that I am working at lost a son and his last name was Scott. It’s a small small world and we should cherish the life god has given us. Please don’t waste it

I did not know Brian. I am not even in the United States, but I am cryng thinking about this young man’s life lost so senselessly. He was a son, a brother,a friend. I hate guns. They are illegal here in Canada and I wish they were in the States. To all who knew and loved Brian, I am so sorry for your loss.
