Today I received an exclusive picture of the Pier 62 skatepark that’s still under development. Though the park isn’t completely finished from what can be seen in the picture it seems like it’s going to be one of the best park spots to skate in our city. The layout is impressive, less cluttered, and much more open ended from it’s previous layout. More information and pictures will be provided as the park develops. Thanks for the pic…

I don’t think the new one is gonna be a good park to skate. Mostlikely we’re gonna need wrist guards and the rest of the armor to skate it or pay some kind of fee
NYC always has some catch to skating one of their parks….

that park is amazing makes the old one look like we got jippd off all these years, anything over the height of 4ft malik has got to have some one supervise it and if u look at those ramps and know about concrete falls thenyou wont mind wearing your pads, as for the 15$ its probaly going to cost to get in there well just look at that park its amazing beats oil city anyday! actually is the best skate park in nyc looks like they had some help with some real skate park builders finaly, concrete park sessions whoaaa this made my day big time.. i feel by the time im too old to skate all these new parks will be out,,, CHECK OUT MC CARREN POOL SKATE PARK TO BE WRAPED UP BY WINTER,, AN CHECK OUT HIGHBRIDGE CONCRETE STREET PARK WHICH WILL ALSO BE BUILT THIS YEAR,,

what we need is an indoor park… the guy from owls head said that there might be a bubble coming for owls head soon but that the city told him they might require an entrance fee if they do because most indoor parks are like that

who’s the thanks for the const. pic? is it DNgÂș? park will be cool and overrun with hundreds of tools though

finally the only concrete park in ny and unless you have to sign waivers and pay money that place will def be overcrowded
July 21, 2009 at 3:31 PM
the park is not part of Chelsea Piers anymore it is going to be a city run park, which means helmet only for those over 18 and most likely all pads for under 18 (like it is in all the other city run parks). It will also be free like all the other city run parks so I can deal with a helmet for a good free cement park.

The place looks sweet. It will be free. It will be fun. It will be crowded.
@Ado: Trust me the tools stay outta the deepend. You can always pay $100/mo for a key at Autumn and cry about that too. lol
Is this gonna open this year? Will it be open during the painfully short season/hours that are currently maintaned by the Hudson River Trust?
Can’t wait for my trucks to be barkin on that concrete edge. (please be pool coping. please be pool coping. please be pool coping)

This park was designed and built by California Skate Parks. They built that retarded world record skateboard for rob dyrdek. They’ve also built for the Malouf Cup, this past years X-Games super park (Also with Nate Wessel) and P-Rod’s street course in Compton.
I heard to keep weight down according to city rules and the park being built on a pier, underneath the top layer of cement, spray foam was used at a “filler”. This process reduced weight by 80%.
Park will not be open until spring ’10… Should be good!

[...] An genau dieser Stelle, dieses Pier in Manhattan war zwar früher ein ziemlich großer Holz Skatepark, aber das war es auch schon im Großraum NY. Klar, der M2 Preis ist teuer, da lohnt sich [...]
